What people I've worked with say about me

Portrait of Anja De Bruyne

Anja De Bruyne

Aspiring entrepreneur · Anja is a client of Benjamin
We got talking about our projects and our vision during a workshop for aspiring entrepreneurs. Although having a website was not on my agenda at the time, our conversation gave me a lot to think about. What stayed with me the most was that you didn't see a website as a sales tool, but as a way to share a story and evoke a feeling. That aligned perfectly with how I envisioned Huize Vintage. I have rarely met someone who understood so intuitively what I meant and who could translate the atmosphere and emotion so beautifully, as if you could look inside my mind. You do not just listen to what a client says; you truly hear what they mean. Thank you for capturing the atmosphere and the heart of Huize Vintage so beautifully. (Translated with AI)

A selection of projects I've worked on

Benjamin De Donder online resume

2026
  • SvelteKit
  • Zed Agent
  • Claude Opus 4.8

Together with AI, I built an online resume for myself.

  • AI is a powerful tool, but I'm not an advocate of 'vibe coding' where all responsibility of the code is left to AI. I like to keep an eye on the code and take on the responsibility of quality and performance, and prefer to use AI to support and accelerate—not take over—my development process.

Huize Vintage website

2026
  • Huize Vintage
  • Tielt, Belgium
  • SvelteKit
  • TailwindCSS
  • Strapi

Together with a graphic designer, I built a website for Huize Vintage.

Intercreate Online website

2026
  • SvelteKit
  • TailwindCSS
  • Strapi

Together with a graphic designer, I built a website for Intercreate Online.

  • During this project I dove into TailwindCSS's theming functionality using CSS variables. A section of the website can use one of two available themes, and each theme has a light and a dark variant.

Breefly

2025
  • Go
  • Nostr
  • SvelteKit
  • TailwindCSS

To familiarize myself with the Nostr protocol, I built a distraction-free reading platform.

  • The Nostr network consists of many relays that store and distribute data. A Nostr client often connects to several relays over web sockets. I started by developing a REST API in Go to cache data and reduce network traffic between my SvelteKit application and the backend. I soon realised this wasn't an ideal solution, because every user fetches different data from the Nostr network. So I rewrote the platform entirely. This time without a REST API as backend, but with a Nostr library in the frontend that caches the data in the browser.
  • I researched various caching options in the browser such as service workers and IndexedDB.

Internal project at Guideline Belgium

2021
  • Guideline Belgium
  • Bruges, Belgium
  • Nuxt 2
  • Vue.js 2
  • Vuetify
  • Laravel REST API
  • GitLab CI/CD

I developed the frontend of a platform for an HR company where they could create questionnaires such as MBTI and invite candidates to fill them in.

  • This project contained a lot of relational data, as well as data that was fetched on one page but remained relevant as the user navigated further into the platform. For this used of Vuex and VuexORM as a frontend state management solution.

Guideline Belgium website

2020
  • Guideline Belgium
  • Bruges, Belgium
  • Nuxt 2
  • Vue.js 2
  • Vuetify
  • Laravel REST API
  • GitLab CI/CD

Based on a supplied graphic design, I built the frontend of the Guideline Belgium website. The backend was a Laravel REST API developed by a colleague. The actual data came from the PIM system developed by Guideline Belgium.

  • I experimented further with the reusability of components. The entire content ánd structure of the website comes from an underlying PIM system. Every page consists of a series of sections, and for each type of section there is a reusable component.

Het Voedselbos website

2018
  • Het Voedselbos
  • Nokere, Belgium
  • Nuxt 2
  • Vue.js 2
  • Vuetify
  • WordPress REST API
  • GitLab CI/CD

Together with 2 graphic designers, I built a website for Het Voedselbos.

  • I enjoyed experimenting with the combination of SVG and Vue.js.
  • I tried to compose the layout from reusable components as much as possible.
